Harvey River Estate

Set on the banks of the Harvey River, Harvey River Estate was established in 1999, producing a classic series of regional wine. The winery operates a 40 acre vineyard in Harvey, along with sourcing the best fruit from a select group of small growers, producing well known premium varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Rosé.

Billy Goat Hill, with its granite out-crops on gravelly loam soils, is set within the beautiful Darling Ranges of the South West of Western Australia. This secluded landmark overlooking the Harvey Dam enjoys abundant rainfall, clear blue skies and surrounded by wonderful natural forests. The Billy Goat Hill label acquired its names from this local landmark.

It shows beautiful blackcurrant fruit with a full bodied palate.

Special care is taken from the vineyard to the bottle to produce this terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nose: Mild spice of French oak and mixed red berry perfume.

A good intensity of cherry and blackcurrant fruits finished with fine tannins.

2016 yielded another quality vintage in Geographe. The warm growing conditions combined with the gentle maceration of skins during alcoholic fermentation, gives this wine a good intensity of cherry and blackcurrant fruits finished with fine tannins.

Vineyard: Geographe, Western Australia. Cabernet 62.5%. Merlot 33.5%. Shiraz 4%.

Nose: Trademark blackcurrant and cherry aroma enhanced with spices.

Palate: Dry with a bowl full of cherry and blackcurrant fruits, some vanilla spice from the nose extends to the palate. Good intensity and length.

100% Sauvignon Blanc – Geographe, Western Australia.

The fruit came from the grower of one of our finest vineyards; the premium free run fraction was separated and vinified, with 20% fermented and matured in new French Oak.

Nose: Prominent tropical notes and gooseberry.

The Fishbone Premium range is created from hand-picked premium fruit from the Margaret River and Frankland River wine regions of Western Australia.
In the glass: Deep red.
On the nose: Plum, blackcurrant, bay leaf and black olive.
On the palate: Poised and elegant with a bright core of black fruit, seamless tannins, touches of leaf and mint and a lingering finish.

2017 FISHBONE RUBY ROSÉ

A delicate, French provincial style rose, with clean floral notes and a delicate structure of tannins framing the dried apricot and peach complexity through to the finish.

In 2017 the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Harvey was harvested early February, with the aim to produce a delicate rosé. A small portion of lightly pressed Grenache was blended in to offer some complexity.

The 2017 Fishbone Ruby Rosé was awarded Gold at the 2017 Geographe and WA Alternatives Wine Show and Silver at the 2017 Western Australia Wine Show.

Vineyard: Geographe, Western Australia. Cabernet Sauvignon 90%, Grenache 10%.

Nose: Clean perfume with floral notes.

Palate: Dry, balanced natural acid, with delicate tannin structure frames peaches and dried apricots fruit flavours.

Produced from premium Western Australian Shiraz fruit, the wine has deep plum purple colour, fruity aroma, and soft tannins supporting dark berry flavours.

Harvested during the cool night, the 2015 Fishbone Shiraz was crushed and fermented in tank and seasoned with a light blend of US and French Oak.

Vineyard: Geographe, Western Australia. Shiraz 100%.

Nose: Ripe plum & rhubarb, with hint of tobacco and vanilla.

Palate: Dry, spiced dark fruits, balanced acidity with healthy tannin support. Good length with slight vanilla finish.

2016 FISHBONE SHIRAZ CABERNET

This 2016 Shiraz Cabernet has rich blackberry fruit that carries with striking intensity from the start through to the finish.

Vineyard: Geographe, Western Australia. Shiraz 85%. Margaret River, Western Australia. Cabernet Sauvignon 15%.

Nose: Fragrant vanilla bean and dark berries.

Palate: Dry, intense rich blackberry fruit dominates the palate from start to finish, some attractive oak derived vanilla gives some added texture to mouthfeel.

It is a versatile wine for all occasions, drinking beautifully now. Suitable on its own or with a meal.

Nose: Clean, intense red berry and sweet spice.

Palate: Dry, Medium bodied with balanced natural acidity and tannins. Fruit driven style of wine showing a good concentration of berry and oak flavours. Clean finish.

HRE-Sauv-Blanc-Sem-568x10242017 SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON

The wine is dry and elegant with clean citrus fruits. The flavour persists to a clean and refreshing finish.

The Semillon was grown in Harvey and the Sauvignon Blanc from south of Capel. The wine is dry and elegant with clean citrus fruits. The flavour persists to a clean and refreshing finish.

Vineyard: Geographe, Western Australia. Sauvignon Blanc 70%, Semillon 26%, Verdelho 4%.

Nose: Citrus upfront with pineapple.

Palate: Dry striking crisp green apple acid. Fresh and lively palate with the intensity of citrus, with tropical fruits coming through on the finish.

A premium Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon with intense cherry and blackcurrant flavours, fine tannins and French oak complexity.

 

Grown in the Margaret River wine region, the Joseph River Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon speaks true to the regions reputation of producing world class Cabernets, rivalling with the best of Bordeaux. The story of this Cabernet begins in the vineyard, where the fruit is nurtured to ripeness, hand-picked and only the best fruit selected to be pressed. Its dry, medium to full bodied character is supported by rich black fruit characters, French oak complexity and velvety tannins carried through to its finish.

The Joseph River label is best known for its award winning 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, winner of the highly regarded Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy in 2010.

The Joseph River Estate 2011 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was also highly recommended with 88 points in the 2017 Decanter World Wine Awards.

Vineyard: Margaret River. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nose: Blackcurrant and cassis fruit with dark chocolate and cedar oak complexity.

Palate: Dry medium to full bodied, intense cherry and blackberry fruits.  Firm natural red fruit tannins and French oak support the flavour profile to the finish.

 

Joseph_River_Chardonnay-682x10242015 RESERVE CHARDONNAY

Reserve Margaret River Chardonnay harvested from a single vineyard, fermented and matured in a selection of French oak barrels.

 

The ripened Chardonnay fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed.  Pressing was light to retain the primary fruit flavours with a delicate tannin structure.  Fermentation was conducted in new and seasoned French hogsheads with minimal barrel stirring.  After 9 months in barrel, the Chardonnay was lightly fined and bottled.

Vineyard: Margaret River. 100% Chardonnay.

Nose: Buttered biscuit and pear with a slight waft of vanilla.

Palate: Dry, medium intensity of dried pear fruit, subtle vanilla complexity with fine natural acid support to the finish.
